The Gizeh is the thong version of the Birkenstock footbed — same arch cradle, deep heel cup, and toe bar — with a canvas upper and a big statement buckle. A thong forces the toes to grip, which can fatigue the forefoot over long days; the strapless-heel design is best for shorter wear. As with every Birkenstock: allow the cork break-in, and custom orthotics aren't an option with the fixed footbed.
